2019 Venue for the Brabazon Trophy or the English Open Amateur Strokeplay Championship to give this prestigious events its full title.
The Alwoodley is home to one of the finest and most subtle inland courses in the British Isles, located in a secluded spot. Alwoodley was proud to host the "Brabazon Trophy" for the 1st time.
Alwoodley’s famous architect, Dr Alister MacKenzie, created a layout of rare subtlety and sophistication on moorland to the north of the city of Leeds.
Alwoodley is a natural heathland course, with springy fairways that cut through a profusion of heather, whins and shrubs. It features eye-catching and naturalistic-looking bunkers, strategic choices, and large, often undulating, greens.
Now well over a century old, the Original MacKenzie remains true to its architect’s original intentions.
